The Vineyard House
The Vineyard House has been created from an old Kentish barn, and its look combines the solidity of traditional construction with gorgeous interior design. Until four years ago it was just a derelict but beautiful building lost in a field. Now it must be one of Britains most stylish and comfortable holiday homes.
With oak floors throughout, and a mixture of antique and contemporary furniture its keynotes are influenced by the best boutique hotels or luxury private clubs like Soho House.
It has four luxury suites, each with their own bathroom, a huge high ceilinged dining room and kitchen area, and a substantial entertainment room with home cinema and a piano. It also has a lovely lawned garden, with vineyard views on one side and countryside views on the other.
From the large car park area, you enter through the porch at the back to the main kitchen dining room, a vast atmospheric room with a high vaulted ceiling and views in front and back .There is a dining table to seat ten, next to a modern oak topped kitchen area, complete with washing machine and dishwasher. Over on another side is an L-shaped contemporary sofa for guests to curl up in front of the large flat screen TV with satellite reception, warmed by the wood burning stove. From this grand room, on one side is the entertainment room with home cinema, or on the other side, a WC, or the Dove Suite. It is flanked by two grand oak staircases which lead to the other three bedroom suites.
The Entertainment Room
The ground floor:

The first floor:

This is a large and comfortable room with a home cinema, a piano and luxurious modern sofas, one of which can be used as a sofa bed. Relax and watch some of the latest movies from our collection of DVDs, bring your own, or watch satellite tv. Or have a singsong by the upright piano. For really wet days, read a book or play games.
The Dove Suite
The Dove Suite consists of a ground floor bedroom and bathroom with bath/WC. Sumptuously decorated and lavishly comfortable, it has a four-poster bed with a queen-sized mattress. Its windows open onto the vineyard.
The Kingfisher Suite
Upstairs, the Kingfisher Suite has a view East. With twin beds which can be put together if a king sized bed is needed, from here you can watch the sunrise while listening to the dawn chorus. It has its own shower room, oversized and clad in white travertine.
The Swallow Suite
From the oak staircase on the West, access the Swallow Suite, with twin beds, and its own private shower. From its windows there is an open view to the countryside where you can see spectacular sunsets.
The Woodpecker Suite
On the other side of the landing is The Woodpecker Suite, with a lovely king sized bed and its own lovely bathroom. From its private balcony, you can have breakfast, while overlooking the expanse of vineyard to the village church beyond.
The Garden
In the front of the barn, to the South, the garden is laid to lawn and its boundaries are attractively edged with a beautiful rose hedge, with scented white rugosa roses. Behind the barn, screened by hedges, is a paved area with a teak table and chairs seating ten and a barbecue. Here, you are right next to the vineyard with its mix of native Bacchus grapes and Pinot Gris.
The Tennis Court
A few metres away from The Vineyard House is a hard double tennis court. Play tennis for a whole week if you want to! Very occasionally, the tennis court is used by guests at the nearby Budds House but it is nearly always available exclusively to barn guests. Please bring your own rackets and tennis balls!
